Why we sell flat beeswax wraps, not bags
We spent a long time thinking about whether to offer beeswax bags because we know they're popular with customers at the moment. But we decided against it because we wouldn't use them ourselves.
That's because bags are very hard to clean and food can accumulate in the corners.
Ever noticed the lint that gets stuck inside the corners of your pillowcases? And that’s with vigorous washing in a machine.
Bags have corners and/or seams on the inside that catch crumbs, sandwich filling and other bits of the food you store in them.
It’s extremely hard to hand-wash these clean and ensure that the seams are properly dried. Any food left in the corners or seams, or seams that are not completely dry will attract bacteria and mould.
Flat wraps, on the other hand, easily wipe clean with a little soap, cool water and the soft side of a sponge. There are no crevices or corners for food to catch and rot, and they dry thoroughly when thrown over your dish rack.
Plus, flat wraps can cover bowls AND be folded into little sealable bags that are easy to unfold and clean, so they're more useful as well as hygienic 😊
